5. CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME
¡¡¡¡Hello everyone!!!!
When I finish my studies there are two options: to get a degree in visual arts or to have a mention in something, for example, I would get a mention in painting, that means I would be an expert in painting. To achieve that you have to finish the eight semesters plus four semesters that I did when I entered the career, a kind of basic cycle at the same University of Chile, so I've been in the career for twelve semesters. And I am already in my last year.
I value the practical classes more than the theoretical ones, because I spend more time painting in the workshop than anywhere else. As for the theoretical courses, they are very good, they are very useful to organize your work and understand what you are doing, but I still prefer to paint a lot.
The place where I paint pleases me a lot but it also depresses me. I have been studying visual arts at the University of Chile for six years. I started in the year two thousand seventeen and the faculty of arts is still just as precarious. The art faculty used to be in the Bellas Artes museum in Parque Forestal, but the military dictatorship closed the Bellas Artes and then the art faculty was born in Las Encinas (I would have loved to have classes in the Parque Forestal museum). The faculty still needs to improve a lot, I value the professors who have taught me and the contents they teach us, but even so the architectural space is very bad, it is not possible that with a simple rain everything fills with water and it is not good that they do not pay the salaries of the workers as they should. The faculty of arts is very old, there are no modern things and everything falls down or does not work, for example the computers are not very good, the signal to connect is very bad. It is not very pleasant to study or read in the faculty, that's why I prefer to paint more than read.
I don't feel that the school orients you much in the job market or anything like that. I still haven't decided whether or not to do the mention (thesis) because I would like to do a master's degree in visual arts and having that I can work, for example, as a teacher, that is one of my options for the future.
¡¡¡¡¡ I love and hate my university !!!!!
